Maxime Pinot (FRA1) has managed to take a more direct line, getting to 2500m high and cutting the corner. Meanwhile Patrick von Känel (SUI2) has been "flushed" – blown off course by the strong north wind and forced to land at the bottom. This is a critical mistake for von Känel – expect it to cost him dearly in time and position.
