Race leaders Maxime Pinot (FRA1) and Chrigel Maurer (SUI1) are crossing the Contamines valley, but contrary to what they expected this morning, it's not easy. They were expecting to gain great heights but they are battling a headwind and getting only to about 1500m high. That may not be enough to cross the valley and get up on the other side.
