Slow progress
Progress was proving to be challenging on Day 4. While Patrick von Känel and Chrigel Maurer reached Turnpoint 6, Säntis, first, other athletes still had to reach Turnpoint 5, Lermoos in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena.

The art of hiking well
Just because it's raining does not mean you can stop moving forward in a race like the Red Bull X-Alps. In fact, this is where athletes can stretch ahead by a few precious miles or even overtake the athlete in front of them – by hiking hard for hours at a time.

The day started with a hike up the Krachelspitze and ended for many with a hike through thunder, hail and lightning. In between, a sea of highs and lows for each individual athlete.
