Flying at 640m altitude – 826.42 km to finish – 17th place

Team USA 1 ended high here last night. After an epic day from Austria over the spine COL busting then down to top land the @kronplatz then quickly back into the air as the sky started getting really big I flew fast back to the North, back into Austria and Mayrhofen where the skies looked much better and the flying straightforward, but it was not to be. My line didn’t work, I pinballed down the valley, using the valley wind twice to try to get high enough to cross the end of the Pinzgau twice, the second time thought I had it but got pounded in the Lee and rotor and had to pull a dicey slope land or lose 2000 meters of height. Packed up quickly, ran to the top of a ski area where when I arrived it was blowing 40, then suddenly 2 mins later it was almost dead. I misread what was going on and launched, only to be flushed down a toilet of doom. Slope landed again, put it into proper beast mode and hauled back up to the top... where it was dumping over the back. Waited patiently til 8:45 but it never let up. So....bivy high tonight! End of the day didn’t go our way but we made great distance, sometimes it doesn’t go your way, the mood is high on the team, we’re not making mistakes and there’s a long way to go. #optimism
