The milky, hazy sky is typical of a high pressure system and is rarely good news for paragliding. Thermal activity is sparse and inversions cap those that develop. There is also evidence of high cirrus cloud, with reduces the amount of solar radiation reaching the ground. Flights are taking place at the front, but they are hard going and often end prematurely. Unless conditions change soon, we may only see three or four athletes reach Monaco before the race ends at noon on Thursday.
