Three night passes pulled

It’s going to be a long day for Schrempf, Ogisawa and Outters

Helmut Schrempf (AUT3), Kaoru Ogisawa (JPN) and Benoit Outters (FRA1) have pulled their Night Passes on the first day of the Red Bull X-Alps 2019. While the athletes must usually stop moving between 10:30pm and 05:00am, a Night Pass allows you to keep racing.

When to use your Night Pass, however, is a hugely strategic decision. While pulling it too early could cause you to burn out before the more gruelling, high altitude legs, leaving it too late could mean that you get eliminated before you get a chance to use it at all.

While all pilots begin the race with a Night Pass, Benoit Outters (FRA1), Chrigel Maurer (SUI1) and Maxime Pinot (FRA4) all earned a second pass as joint winners of the Prologue race.
