The chasing pack

Maurer and Petiot make T5, but they're not out of the woods

With Turnpoint 5 Lermoos-Tiroler Zugspitze Arena in the bag, Maxime Pinot (FRA4) and Christian Maurer (SUI1) are now heading on foot towards Turnpoint 6 (Davos), 100km to their southwest.

But a chasing pack is fast approaching Turnpoint 5. While their progress is slowing, we can expect these athletes to make Lermoos-Tiroler Zugspitze Arena in the next hour or so … as long as they can keep flying.

In third place, Aaron Durogati (ITA1) is currently flying about 35km to the east of the Turnpoint. He is at 2,400m and making 55km/h. Nearby, Paul Guschlbauer (AUT1) is on a similar line, just a few kilometres behind. He also currently has good height.

Antoine Girard (FRA3) is a little further back still, but, at 1,200m, is getting a little low and could join Patrick Von Kanel (SUI2), in sixth, who is now hiking on the ground.

Gaspard Petiot (FRA2) has taken a more westerly line, but is making similar progress. He is flying at a very healthy 3,400m.

The lead is still very much for the taking. Follow all the action on Live Tracking
