Benoît Outters (FRA2) just launched from Schmittenhöhe, taking a great chance. Also Markus Anders (GER2) and Chrigel Maurer (SUI1) are at the top, but they are clearly not in a hurry to launch. Conditions for high flights are slow to kick in, due to a phenomenon called an inversion. This basically puts a lid on the rising air, preventing paragliders to climb high. Therefore launching first like Benoît did is a risk. When he has to land again lower down, this puts him back. However, if he gets up, the others will be quick to follow his lead and they will fly together towards TP3 Kitzbühel-Hahnenkamm.
