Sixth victory in sight

It seems nothing can now stop Chrigel from making history

Christian Maurer (SUI1) races during the Red Bull X-Alps above Barcelonnette, France on June 24, 2019.

Christian Maurer (SUI1) will reach Peille, where the clock stops for him, between 1 and 2pm, says his team. They say conditions at the coast are scorching and the heat is slowing him down slightly – he has, after all, already covered 1960km in the 2019 race, with just 11km to go.

When Maurer reaches Peille, he is well on his way to a sixth consecutive Red Bull X-Alps victory. His time stops there, but he must still fly down to the float at Monaco, 2km further on, before he finally wears the victor's crown.

He can make this final victory flight at his leisure, but the airspace is only open between 7pm and 9pm. Expect him on the beach by early evening.
