Under the rules of the Red Bull X-Alps an authorised UIAGM mountain guide must accompany teams for dangerous hiking and climbing sections on glaciers or extreme alpine conditions. In case the athlete or supporter is a certified UIAGM mountain guide, no additional mountain guide is needed. Glaciers with crevasses may only be crossed by a rope team, not by a single person, even if the athlete or supporter is a UIAGM guide. Although it is a glacier, there are no crevasses where Maxime Pinot (FRA4) is hiking.
