Red Bull X-Alps is coming back in 2025
The world's toughest adventure race returns in 2025. The Athletes' Application opens on July 1, 2024.
Red Bull X-Alps is the ultimate challenge for body and mind. The world’s best adventure racing athletes compete for up to 12 days in a demanding race where they have to hike, trail run, climb and fly over 1,250 kilometers across the Alps. After a record-breaking race in 2023, Red Bull X-Alps returns for 2025. The Athletes’ Application kicks off on July 1, 2024, and will run until August 31, 2024. Applications are open for male and female athletes from all over the world. Any prospective athletes must be strong endurance runners, mountaineers and world-class hike and fly athletes.
Looking back on a legendary race
The 2023 edition of Red Bull X-Alps was a record-breaking success. The 11th edition, which also marked the 20-year-anniversary of the race, started for the first time in the alpine area of Kitzbühel-Kirchberg, Austria. It then continued across the Alps by foot and paraglider, with athletes traversing to Mt Blanc and back via some of the most recognizable mountains and towns.
Numerous records fell during the race. It was by far the fastest edition, with the Swiss veteran athlete Christian “Chrigel” Maurer reaching goal after covering more than 1,200 kilometers in an astonishing 6 days, 6 hours and one minute, and 17 of his rivals landing within 24 hours of the Swiss. More athletes than ever made it to goal, with 23 athletes making it to the finishing line in Zell am See, Austria. Another landmark was Austrian Eli Egger becoming the first female to make it to goal.

The race last year was a special occasion, and we hope to build on the success of the 2023 edition. The dates of the Route Announcement, the Prologue and the Race Start will be revealed by mid of June. The Application Phase begins on July 1, 2024, and runs until August 31, 2024. Check regularly on all the Red Bull X-Alps social media channels for every new detail.
