Red Bull X-Alps 2019 - Athlete's post-race statements

Two weeks after the 2019 race, athletes are reminiscing.

One of the most excititng editions in the history of Red Bull X-Alps came to an end 14 days ago. Time for the teams to calm down and reflect on the events of the past weeks. This is part one of the athlete's statements of their personal feelings about the 2019 Red Bull X-Alps.

Paul Guschlbauer (AUT1)

My 5th Red Bull X-Alps is over. A hike & fly race between Salzburg and Monaco with 1138km. Together with my Team AUT1, I was able to witness again why this is called the toughest adventure race in the world. 11 days of little sleep, hiking an average of 5000+ vertical meters and somedays flying distances more than 200km, gives you an idea of the challenge for body and mind. But in the end, the last day showed what this community is all about. After 10 days of fighting for every meter to keep the 3rd, Benoit Outters and I decided that we would rather fight together than each other. Over 15 hours in brutal heat towards the goal, which we reached just in time to glide down over Monaco into the Mediterranean sea. Thank you all for your cheers and excitement while following me and my beloved team.
Hope you see you all soon somewhere on this beautiful planet.

Simon Oberrauner (AUT2)

Touching down in Monaco after one hell of a race. Couldn't be happier. Thanks to everyone who supported me on this journey!

Helmut Schrempf (AUT3)

Our first participation in the Red Bull X-Alps is over. Many up´s and down´s were our companions in the last three weeks. We had to learn a lot in a short time. Some things were easy and other things were not possible at this time. We look ahead and prepare for the future. Mistakes are there to learn.
The unbelievable impressions of the mountains on this journey and knowing one's own psychological and physical limits are priceless. Thanks to the organization of Red Bulll and zooom productions gmbh who make these experiences possible.
A big thank you to all who supported me and made this big project possible for us. Thank you to all my supporters that you were by my side and have supported me to the end. Thanks to all! Now it`s time for a short break, see you soon.

Tom de Dorlodot (BEL)

Two weeks have passed since the Red Bull X-Alps! At night I’m still waking up at 4:30 am, a bit sleepy and thinking I have to get ready to hike and fly to make it on time to Monaco... a few seconds later I realize what we achieved with the team and I go back to sleep with a smile on my face. Team Belgium 2019, you guys rock!

Benoit Outters (FRA1)

Red Bull X-Alps 2019, the most crazy adventure race I've been able to participate in!
11 days at a fast pace, 11 days to cross the Alps only by walking and flying, a dream once again realized.
A head full of memories, a team at the top of the top: Antoine, Tom, Stéphane, Pierre-Yves.
Thank you to my darling, and my family who haven't been sleeping for 11 days... thank you for all your messages of support during the race, I didn't have time to answer you but they are a great source of motivation!

Maxime Pinot (FRA4)

On the last kilometers of this Red Bull X-Alps, I felt laughter, tears, a plume of emotions, all at the same time. But maybe more over two years of my life carved by this goal.
I reviewed my doubts, my joys, the ease, the suffering, the clarity, the darkness, the sharing, my selfishness and my obsession. Hours and hours of work, difficult choices and sometimes heartbreaking. [Full statement in French here]
I'm proud of ourselves, a little bit of me also unpretentious. And we thank you all for the support, the messages, the madness behind the live tracking! It was huge!
Thank you!

Manuel Nübel (GER1)

The race is over
Once we all flew down over monaco we started to realize it!
To be there. Now. In Monaco. With my beloved team. And other pilots. Great persons. After endless hours of preparation. Hard training. Ups and downs. After 1138km. 376km of hiking in 10d11h. From Salzburg. Through so many stunning places. Landscapes. Situations. So many experiences richer. A lot of stories in the bag. I finally stand on the float. The place where I want to be so badly for the last year.
A DREAM CAME TRUE
With the best Team: Schini, Josi, Sascha and Daniel. True friends!
Thanks to all my Sponsors and people who supported us.

Markus Anders (GER2)

Unfortunately we were not able to reach Monaco due to some mistakes we made in planning and an injury of Markus' ankle.
That's why we took it easy the last 2 days... Still we managed to finish in 14th position!
The race has been a blast for all of us! We learned a lot and had a lot of fun together. I'm glad we were part of this!
 Thanks!

Marko Hrgetic (HRV)

Finally rested after the Red Bull X-Alps race. It was definitely the most challenging and most exciting race I ever did. I had a great time even though some moments did not look like that at all. Now when everything is finished and I look back to it I must say I have only positive memories of the things we did. My support team did a great job and especially Adrien Colombie that pushed me every day to put my limits higher and higher.
As this race is hard to tell in a couple of sentences, in the next month I'll revive it in videos of the race how it was every day in a couple of series.
Thank you all that helped with the support and also when I come back I'll be sending the T-Shirts that I promised.
Also big thanks to all the sponsors that made this race soo good.
I sure hope to be on the 2021 race!

Aaron Durogati (ITA1)

I enjoyed every single day of this amazing adventure! It was hard but we had also fun and finally together with my team mates we arrived to Monaco!
