Nick Neynens pulls his Night Pass
The New Zealander is going to hike through the night

Nick Neynens (NZL) has pulled his Night Pass. He is the only athlete to do so today.
Neynens is currently in last place and faces elimination tomorrow morning if he does not overtake athletes in front of him.
Hi is yet to make TP5 Lermoos - Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, is 245km behind the race leaders and 36km behind the next athlete, Gavin McClurg (USA1).
Under the rules of the race all athletes must stop moving between the hours of 10:30pm and 05:00am. However, all athletes have at least one Night Pass, which allows them to hike all through the night.
Neynens started the race with a bruised ankle after twisting it in training during the pre-race week. He has been hiking slowly, which is one of the reasons he is now at the back.
Neynens is a veteran Red Bull X-Alps athlete – this is his third event. He placed 10th in 2015, 9th in 2017 and 15th in 2019.
