Maurer and Celik pull Night Passes

For Chrigel Maurer it's the first of two Night Passes, rookie Baris Celik is on his way to Titlis

Chrigel Maurer (SUI1) passed Turnpoint 12 Cheval Blanc shortly before 2pm this afternoon, and started his home run for the final Turnpoint of the race at Peille.

With about 80km to go, and 100km clear of his nearest rival you might think he’d be feeling relaxed. However, just to make sure he can stay ahead all day and night tonight he has pulled his Night Pass.

This will allow him to hike through the night between the official rest period hours of 22:30 to 05:30.

Further back in the field a second athlete has also decided to use their Night Pass tonight.

Baris Celik (TUR) is currently in 24th position. Although safe from the elimination that happens tomorrow at 6am, he will want to use his Night Pass to put him ahead of he final elimination round on Thursday morning at 6am.
