MAPPING THERMALS
In 3D mode, you can follow the pilots in the air – and see how they work the available lift. Here's Christian Maurer (SUI1) flying over his own track (green line). You can see the circles he has flown to stay inside the core of the thermal, where the best lift is. You can also see that the thermal doesn't go straight up, but drifts a little in the wind. He took this thermal from 2400m to over 3000m.
