Jose Ignacio Arevalo Guede (ESP) Gets Eliminated

The Spaniard put up a great fight, but the axeman cannot be stopped.

Jose Ignacio Arevalo Guede (ESP) is the latest to be eliminated from Red Bull X-Alps 2017. The 37-year-old Spaniard was evicted from the race at 6am this morning, after falling 77km behind the nearest competitor, Evgenii Griaznov (RUS).

Jose yesterday pulled a Ledlenser Night Pass in the hope that he could make a long flight during the day and make up any remaining distance overnight. But the race-saving flight never materialised and Tom de Dorlodot (BEL), who was also in the elimination zone, says that Jose called to say that he was giving up the chase, saving Tom from using his own night pass.

The Rookie Spaniard, who is a regular winner of his home country’s competitions and works as a firefighter, ends his race 745km from Monaco.
