It’s a family affair

The bonds of family are strong in the Red Bull X-Alps.

It’s a family affair for some teams in the race this year.

In a heart-warming moment Benoit Outters (FRA4) was greeted by his mother this afternoon at the final Turnpoint in Peille. She gave her boy a hug moments after he had top-landed and finished the race.

Gaspard Petiot (FRA2), who sadly had to leave the race early following a tumble on landing, was supported by his brother, Basile. ‘Les Freres Petiot’ - the Petiot Brothers - are a close-knit team; both are mountain guides and paraglider pilots.

And finally Nick Neynens (NZL) has truly made the Red Bull X-Alps a family affair this year. His first supporter is his brother Ben, while his mum Karen is his second. Their race vehicle is a genuine family car too - no camper van for them.

Nick has pulled his Ledlenser Night Pass - his family will (literally) be with him all the way.
