The sun has set, and night is falling. For ten athletes with Night passes this could mean a long night of hiking to cover as many kilometres as possible before 11:30 arrives tomorrow. Gavin McClurg (USA1) is underneath some of the big mountains that straddle the Swiss-Italian border. Soon he will no longer be able to make them out, as the tap of his poles and the pool of torchlight will be his entire world while he hikes through the darkness.
