Föhn keeps its cool

The predicted strong föhn winds didn't pose a threat yesterday to athletes and the light föhn today might even benefit some. The wind comes from the south and is moderate at higher altitudes up to 15 knots (28km/h) which is challenging while launching but fine for athletes once in the air. It is expected to create some turbulence in the air, but on the other hand athletes may benefit from a wind in the back as they fly towards TP4. On the ground winds are expected to be weak. Thermal activity might not be very strong today, depending on the haze and cloud development, so some may be struggling again to gain enough height.
