Föhn has arrived

The mid-pack, from Ferdy van Schelven (NED) in 14th to Tobias Grossrubatscher (ITA2) in 6th, all have to battle Föhn winds already. Föhn winds develop when there is a large air pressure difference between the north and south sides of the Alps. The wind that this difference creates is pushed up and over the mountains and tumbles down like a waterfall on the other side. This makes for strong headwind and uncomfortably turbulent conditions between Turnpoint 8 Dent d'Oche and Turnpoint 9 Mont Blanc right now.
