Föhn blows again

Thunderstorms and cloud could be blown away partly during the day. That sounds like a good opportunity for the athletes to fly, but this is  because of another challenging weather phenomenon, the south föhn: a dry, strong and turbulent wind from the south. This wind continues to increase over the day and blows strongly over the main ridge of the Alps. That means it could be hot, up to 29°C, on the valley floors for hiking and windy and turbulent in the air for flying, up to 25kt (45km/h) at 3000m. In the Großglockner massif where the race leaders are headed to compete for second place, the föhn will reach stormy gusts up to 30-40 kt (70km/h).
