Simon Oberrauner (AUT2) says he's struggling with his ears, which are causing him pain in flight and when climbing. He's determined to keep going though. 'It was very bad a couple of days ago, but another paraglider who I'd never met before but had been following the race let me stay in their apartment and I got some good rest. I'm a bit better now, but I have decided to take it easy. The goal is no longer to go as fast as possible. Instead, I will just race efficiently and go at the pace my body wants me to.' Despite his health issues, Oberrauner is in 10th place.
