The application phase for Red Bull X-Alps 2019 is now open.
The world’s toughest adventure race kicks off on June 16, 2019 - and the excitement is already growing. No two races are the same; each one brings new routes, new surprises and most importantly, new athletes. Do you have strength and skill to hike and paraglide across the Alps, earning your place amongst the world’s most elite pilots and endurance athletes? You’re in luck! The application phase for Red Bull X-Alps 2019 is now officially open until August 31, 2018.
Discussing the application phase, race director Christoph Weber explains; “The athlete selection process has always been very strict - and the search for the best athletes for Red Bull X-Alps has proven difficult in the past. We need to determine whether the applicants have the physical and mental strength required to participate. This means we have to take many factors into account, such as their experience, previous competitive results and their abilities as pilots and mountaineers.
Red Bull X-Alps truly is anyone’s game, and the last edition of the race was no exception. In 2017, race rookie Benoît Outters shocked everyone with a grueling 2nd place finish, close on the heels of five-time reigning champion Chrigel Maurer. It just goes to show that innovative strategies and unfaltering strength require an athlete to have full control of both their body and mind.
If this is an adventure you’d like to be part of, you can apply to compete in the 2019 edition of Red Bull X-Alps. The application phase runs from now until August 31, 2018 and is open to men and women alike. Applicant wishing to apply can do so via the website. The official athlete line-up will be announced on October 16, 2018. For those curious about the new route, the full details of each turnpoint will be announced on March 13, 2019.
Buckle up! June 16, 2019 marks the start of an extraordinary adventure like no other. Get ready - we’ll see you in the mountains!
