At the back of the field, two Americans are racing each other ferociously along the south of the Glarner Alpen, where most other athletes have gone as well. Gavin McClurg (USA1) is currently last and is foot chasing Cody Mittanck (USA2) just 6km ahead. Gavin pulled his nightpass tactically for tonight, but is hoping not to use it: "I'm hoping to overtake Cody today. I'm feeling good, I'm fit with only a little blister on my little toe, and I'm feeling strong."
