We invite athletes from around the world to apply for Red Bull X-Alps 2027

After hosting the first Red Bull X-Alps Challenger, we are proud to have created a new stage for the next generation of hike-and-fly athletes. Now we invite athletes from around the world who believe they have the strength, skill and mindset to apply for Red Bull X-Alps 2027.”
July 15, 2026 – Athletes Application opens
From July 15, ambitious hike-and-fly athletes from around the world can apply for a spot in Red Bull X-Alps 2027. The race demands exceptional endurance, mountain experience, flying skill, smart decision-making and the ability to keep performing when the pressure is at its highest.
August 31, 2026 – Athletes Application closes
After the Application Phase closes, the selection process begins. The race organization will review every application to identify the athletes with the experience, ability and mindset needed to take on the full demands of Red Bull X-Alps.
October 14, 2026 – Athletes Announcement
The 35 athletes selected for Red Bull X-Alps 2027 will be revealed. Among them will be the first-ever Red Bull X-Alps Challenger Wildcard Winners, Romy Sweda and Aaron Mathis from Switzerland. Following their victories at the inaugural Red Bull X-Alps Challenger in Mayrhofen this June, they secured a direct place in the next main race.
The remaining spots will be filled by the world’s best hike-and-fly athletes. This is the moment when months – or even years – of preparation pay off as athletes secure one of the coveted places on the start line.
March 17, 2027 – Route Announcement
Which mountains will shape the race? Which Turnpoints will challenge the athletes? And where will the biggest decisions be made? On March 17, the route of Red Bull X-Alps 2027 will be presented.
June 13-25, 2027 – Race is on
For almost two weeks, 35 athletes will make their way across the Alps on foot and by paraglider in the world’s toughest adventure race.
