The Prologue is a one-day competition that takes place in the mountains surrounding the famous resort of Kitzbühel - Kirchberg, three days before the main race starts, on June 12. Athletes have to hike and fly a 37km course around eight Turnpoints. It’s the perfect warm-up for fans and media to see the athletes in action before the main race.
The official start of the Prologue will be in Kirchberg and Turnpoint 1 is located directly above Kitzbühel in the sky. The route features famous landmarks such as the world famous Hahnenkamm and the Kitzbüheler Horn. The final stretch of the Prologue will be a thrilling sprint from Turnpoint 8 to the goal right in the heart of Kitzbühel as athletes must carry their paraglider on their shoulders and run the remaining 400m to the goal.
The top three athletes each win an additional Night Pass, a strategic tool that lets them break the mandatory rest period. The results also determine the starting order of Day 2 in the race, which has a staggered start. The Prologue winner sets off first and athletes follow according to the time they finished behind them.
