Damien
Lacaze
Damien came to flying after many adventures as an alpinist and climber. Over the past decade he has combined both passions. Highlights include crossing the Atlas mountains in Morocco and a 1,500 km hike-and-fly adventure around Pakistan, during which he flew to 7,960 m – at the time the second-highest flight ever recorded. He’s also a sailor and in 2021 spent a year aboard a 14 m yacht with his family and young children, crossing the Atlantic to the Caribbean.
His first Red Bull X-Alps experiences came in 2017 and 2019 as a supporter to Benoît Outters. He made an impressive debut as an athlete in 2021, placing 11th and finishing 99 km from goal.
But it was in 2023 that his talent really shone through. In one 11-hour flight – the longest in race history – he covered 226 km and briefly took the lead, eventually finishing second. “It wasn’t a goal, not even a dream. It was too big, too hard, too mythical for me to imagine myself making a podium,” Damien said afterwards. “I came for the adventure, human and sporting, to share incredible moments with a magical team.”
In 2025 he proved his consistency at the very top of the sport, finishing 5th and confirming his status as one of the strongest athletes in Red Bull X-Alps.
