The second athlete from China to ever take part in the race, Bei enters Red Bull X-Alps with a wealth of paragliding experience and some impressively long flights over 200km. But those aren’t always the skills needed to perform well.

Bei took up paragliding eight years ago after flying tandem above a beautiful lake in Xinjiang Province. But he lacks hike and fly race experience – these races do not exist in China. He says he’s in the gym two hours every day and trail running 20km a week but he’ll need to put in some serious vertical kilometers if he wants to keep up.
