Immerse yourself in the Red Bull X Alps experience like never before with our state-of-the-art live tracking technology.
01
General
The Live Tracking interface is divided into two main components that work together to deliver a clear, immersive view of the race:
3D Map
On the left hand side you’ll find the heart of the interface: The interactive 3D map. This live visualization shows athlete positions in real time, with terrain, weather overlays, and their flight paths. You can rotate, zoom, and pan the view for a full spatial understanding of the race environment.
Dashboard
On the right hand side in the side panel you'll find the dashboard, which offers a quick overview of all important race facts, such as the leaderboard, the replay feature and race news.
02
3D Map
This is your real-time window into the race. It is where you can follow every athlete’s movement across the terrain, visualize their progress, and explore the landscape they’re navigating.
Whether you’re zoomed out for a full-race overview or locked in on a single athlete’s flight path, the map gives you the flexibility to view the race from any angle.
The Map View offers two distinct camera modes to help you explore the race in the way that suits you best.
Free Camera
By default, you’re using the Free Camera. This mode gives you full freedom to:
- Pan across the map (left click + drag)
- Zoom in and out (mouse wheel)
- Rotate the view freely (right click + drag)
This is the most flexible option and remains active as long as nothing is selected on the map. It’s perfect for browsing the landscape, checking conditions, or getting a general overview of the race.
Locked Camera
When you select an athlete or a turnpoint, the camera switches to Locked Mode. In this view:
- You can rotate around the selected object (right click + drag)
- Zoom in and out (mouse wheel)
- Panning is disabled, keeping your focus centered on your target
This mode creates a more immersive, cinematic experience - ideal for closely following an athlete’s flight path or observing terrain around a turnpoint.
03
Dashboard
This is your control center for tracking athletes and understanding real-time race data. It provides quick access to key information and insights, all while keeping the map view clear and focused.
Leaderboard
At the top, you’ll find the leaderboard, which shows the top 5 athletes by default. This gives you an instant overview of who’s leading the race and how they’re performing.
By clicking the “Show all” button the list extends and you see all athletes.
For each athlete you can see:
- Current position
- Athlete’s team
- Athlete’s name
- Athlete’s status
- Distance to goal
- Last Turnpoint reached, next Turnpoint
- Altitude
- Current speed
On the right side of each athlete card you’ll notice a three-dot menu. Clicking this reveals a set of quick actions:
- Select – Show or hide the athlete on the map.
- Info – Open the athlete’s full detail view in the dashboard to access more in-depth stats and performance insights.
- Detail – Instantly zoom in and center the map on the athlete, giving you an immersive, real-time experience.
These options help you tailor the interface to your preferences and dive deeper into the progress of any athlete you’re following.
Additionally there are some situational indicators. If an Athlete has pulled a Night Pass their card has a dark blue background (1). Whenever an Athlete is currently under investigation their profile image gets an orange outline (2). You can also find indicators for penalty cards (3) the athlete has accumulated over the entire race. If a penalty is currently in effect there is a countdown showing up, indicating how long the athlete is not allowed to move.
Replay
The replay panel lets you travel back in time and relive the most exciting moments of the race. Whether you missed a key move or want to analyse a bold flying line, this tool gives you full control over the race timeline. This also effects race news and social updates.
Race News
The race news section is a live feed of updates written by our on-site race reporters. This is where you can stay up to date with expert insights, magic moments, and behind-the-scenes insights from the field.
