When and why did you begin paragliding?At the age of 19 I started paragliding at süleyman demirel university when I was studying biology, natural sports have been always in my life but paragliding and mountaineering took the most of my time and my passion, these sports make me feel happy and put me together so I can live.
Do you paraglide competitively? List rankings and events.I have been through several competitions, marathons, cross country competitions and mountaineering; I can say, I am a competitive guy.
What is your mountaineering experience?I started mountaineering before I started paragliding in 2007 at the beginning It was just kind of burning some calories but by the time it took another dimension in my life and I have done some important solo climbs in Turkey . These are some of them: 1. Mt.AĞRI climb in 22 hours 2. Mt.Aladaglar mangirci (fire true the crack route ) solo climb (max 7-) 3. Antalya Mt.sivri free solo speed climb (+5) in 1:45 H the wall height 1000 m
What is your paragliding experience?In 2008 I started paragliding, the first years I was doing it with the other nature sports (climbing, mountaineering and trail running), in this time of my life (the last 2 years) I put almost all my efforts on paragliding.
What is your adventure racing / endurance sport experience?Since 2010 I put my efforts on endurance sports, I have done several ultramarathons: LYCIA ultramarathon 250 K Elbistan ultramarathon 200 K Iznik ultramarathon 130 K
What does your typical training week consist of?I do solo flights 3 days every week and 4 days I do some cardio trainings.
What are your best and worst adventure/flying moments?It was my first +300K flight, was great flight but I was angry because I couldn’t break the Turkish record cause of the overdeveloped air.
What are the sporting moments you are most proud of?After every flight when I’m alive and in good health without any injuries and be able to go home and fly again are the best moments.
When and how did you first hear about Red Bull X-Alps?In 2009 I watched some videos on youtube and it was very interesting idea and competition since then it became my dream.
Have you competed in Red Bull X-Alps before and if so, when?No, I haven't.
What appeals to you about Red Bull X-Alps?This competition consists a two things - hiking and flying - and I was always since the beginning of my life in the university preparing myself in these two things.
What will be your strategy during the race?Flying when it’s flyable , then hiking or running when it’s not flyable my only goal will be going forward.
Why do you think you will make it to the finish?Because I feel I’m ready to do it mentally and physically.
What scares you the most about the event?The Alps is a unique place to fly, I haven’t been there, but I have plans to do some vol-bivs there.
Have you ever done anything of this magnitude before?No, this will be the greatest competition of my life.
