  • What does your typical training week consist of?
Aligned with my trainer and depending on my lactate-level, between 12 and 14 hours of endurance training; Two hours of strength training; Flying, if the weather allows it.
  • What are your best and worst adventure/flying moments?
One of my best flying moments was a full-moon flight on the edge of Farma in Lanzarote. One of the worst was a motor flight where I flew the last kilometers in complete darkness over non-landable terrain. I reached the non-lighted landing field only with the last drop of fuel.
  • What are the sporting moments you are most proud of?
    Winning the Crossalps in 2012.
  • When and how did you first hear about the Red Bull X-Alps?
My friend Harry Gergits (who codes the Red Bull X-Alps live-tracking) told me about it during one of the first editions.
  • Have you competed in the Red Bull X-Alps before and if so, when?
  • What appeals to you about the Red Bull X-Alps?
    Adventure, team-spirit and endurance.
  • What will be your strategy during the race?
To stay in the leading group from the very beginning, but still find my own routes to Monaco, together with my supporter.
  • On average, over a third of the Red Bull X-Alps participants fail to finish the event. Why do you think you will make it?
I have a lot of experience from other endurance competitions and know well about my flying skills. On top of that, my experienced supporter Hubert Kreimer and I have made an excellent team for years. The many competitions and walk-and-fly's I did gave me enough experience to quickly make the right decisions.
  • What scares you the most about the event?
Having to give up due to physical exhaustion.
  • Have you ever done anything of this magnitude before?
No, but competitions like Crossalps, Dolomitenmann, Boardairline, Salomon X-Raid and the Rottenmanner Adventure Race.
